Mark Whisson is the consultant viticulturist for Kersbrook Hill Wines & Cider. Mark brings with him 20 years of viticulture experience all in the Adelaide Hills as well as considerable wine making experience with Whisson Lake.
OUR FRUIT IS SOURCED FROM OUR 3 VINEYARDS:
1: Don’s Acre: The first vines Paul planted in the valley below his house just above Kersbrook in 1997. Hand pruned, picked and cared for this tiny block produces the fruit to make our premium Don’s Acre Shiraz.
2: Stag’s Leap Vineyard: The extended plantings of Shiraz (3 hectares) and Riesling (1 hectare) in 1999 at Kersbrook. This vineyard is at 350 metres above sea level and benefits from being situated in a valley that promotes cool breezes in summer. The Shiraz produced from here is Fruit forward and luscious.
3: Maximilian’s Vineyard Verdun: In 2009 we took over this well-known vineyard (Max has retired) that contains 2 hectares of Chardonnay and 6 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard is around 700 metres above sea level and ideally situated to produce premium cool climate fruit.
4: Other Selected Vineyards: We also buy selected batches of Adelaide Hills fruit from local friends and colleagues to help us produce the more unique wines like Sweet Mary and to capitalize on particularly high quality offerings from time to time.
