If you're visiting Adelaide and want to experience more than one of South Australia's celebrated wine regions, this scenic self-drive itinerary is the perfect way to spend a day.

Begin with coffee in the Adelaide Hills, enjoy a leisurely lunch and wine tasting at Kersbrook Hill Wines & Cider, then continue north to the Barossa Valley for another memorable cellar door experience.

It's a day of beautiful scenery, regional flavours and wonderful wines, with plenty of time to enjoy the journey.

9:00 am | Adelaide Hills

Stop 1: Coffee and a wander in Hahndorf

Start your day by heading into the Adelaide Hills and visiting Hahndorf, Australia's oldest surviving German settlement. Its historic main street, leafy surroundings and independent shops make it a lovely place to ease into the day.

Our coffee stop recommendation is Same But Different Cafe, a welcoming café on Hahndorf's main street. Settle in for a quality coffee and perhaps a pastry before taking a short stroll through the village.

Enjoy the heritage buildings, browse a few local shops and soak up the relaxed country atmosphere before continuing your drive.

Allow: 45–60 minutes.

11:30 am or 12:00 pm | Kersbrook

Stop 2: Lunch and wine tasting at Kersbrook Hill

Now it's time to make your way to Kersbrook Hill Wines & Cider, a welcoming cellar door tucked into the Adelaide Hills countryside.

This is the perfect place to slow down, discover our wines and ciders, and enjoy a relaxed lunch before continuing towards the Barossa.

Explore our range of wines with a cellar door tasting, then settle in for lunch featuring pizzas, platters and locally sourced ingredients. Whether you're travelling as a couple, with friends or as part of a group, Kersbrook Hill offers a chance to enjoy the best of regional hospitality without rushing.

With food and coffee available at the cellar door, you can make this more than a quick tasting stop. Take your time, enjoy the surroundings and make a memorable part of your South Australian wine journey with us.

Allow: 1.5–2 hours.

2:00–2:30 pm | Lyndoch

Stop 3: An afternoon in the Barossa Valley

After lunch, continue north to the Barossa Valley, a region renowned for its bold reds, historic wineries and beautiful vineyard landscapes.

For your afternoon winery visit, we recommend Chateau Yaldara in Lyndoch. Its cellar door offers wine tastings, and a self guided tour. Take a stroll behind the scenes and see how Yaldara began for $10.

Enjoy a tasting, and soak up the history of this beautiful building.

It's a lovely way to finish your day, experiencing the distinctive character of the Barossa after discovering the Adelaide Hills earlier in the journey.

Allow: 1–1.5 hours.
